Answering the question “where are you from?” has never been a one-word answer for me. I’m a third culture kid - I was born in California, grew up in the UAE, and am of Pakistani and British descent.
I enjoy bowling, playing pool, painting, relaxing at the beach, listening to a wide variety of music, and you’ll see the kid in me light up whenever I’m around a dog.
The way I show up in the world carries over in the way I show up in the therapy room. I recognize the intersections of my identities and the privileges I hold as a 2nd gen, South Asian, Muslim, bi-racial, able-bodied, educated, cis-female.
If you’ve found your way here, I imagine you’re struggling with something that you may not feel comfortable sharing with others and you're tired of carrying it all alone. My approach to therapy is co-creating the sense of comfort that may be brought by holding onto a warm cup of chai
I work with clients who feel stuck or lost in life. You may be wondering, "where do I go from here?" Together, we forge paths toward personal fulfillment, both as individuals and within relationships. Sometimes, this looks like unlearning behaviours and patterns that have been there for so long they go unnoticed. Other times, it looks like identifying emotions and processing trauma that has been stored in the body.
I take a trauma-informed, integrative approach to enhance the mind-body-spirit connection,
equipping you with tools to regulate your nervous system and adopt fresh perspectives.
My approach is rooted in anti-oppression, acknowledging the ways in which existing systems continue to further marginalize those who are already oppressed. With experience in community mental health, parenting group co-facilitation, school-based therapy, and private practice, I've witnessed the transformative journeys of clients overcoming significant barriers to care.
In our sessions, you'll find a blend of compassion and humour to foster genuine connection. Drawing from psychodynamic theories, internal family systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and mindfulness, I tailor my methods to suit your specific needs. I also offer EMDR.
As someone who experienced childhood trauma and tried to navigate through it alone, I understand firsthand the profound impact of seeking support. If you're trying to figure out who you are and what you want out of life, I invite you to reach out. You don't have to journey alone.
